The last half term was the shortest ever. Less than 4 weeks. Unheard of. At the end of the half term we said farewell - temporarily - to Y11. The leaving assembly was quite touching with a DVD which captured moments of their days in Years 7 to 11 being shown . Amazing changes over the years. Children to young men and women. The tutors said a few words about their groups, shirts were signed and off they went into the distance. Over half term I saw a lot of them in school taking advantage of the extra classes and today they were back for their Maths exam. Hopefully many will return for the Sixth Form.
Year 13 left as well but their departure had a more permanent feel to it as they will be taking their A2 exams and then moving on to university or into work after, in most cases, 7 years at Rushcliffe. I hope they will keep in touch with us.
Both sets of young people left with real class.
Year 12 have been out of school for a few weeks due to AS exams and they return on Wednesday. It's an odd period for them in that they won't know their results for a couple of months and may not be sure which subjects they intend studying in year 13. Everyone in year 12 needs to throw themselves into their studies for the rest of the term.Time invested now will be useful-though I accept that it might not be easy to see that at the moment.
