Learning Resource Centre

The LRC is open from 8.15am until 4pm every day. There are over 10,000 book resources, audio-books, DVDs and periodicals. There are 30 networked computers with internet access and Microsoft Office.


Borrowing from the LRC

You may borrow two books/audiobooks for two weeks which may be renewed if necessary. DVDs can be borrowed for two nights.

Use of the LRC

Anyone can use the LRC before school, at break and after school. At lunch time access is as follows:

This section includes information about careers, further and higher education and life choices. You can access careers software from any of the computers located in the LRC.

Book Club

Book Club meets on Wednesday lunchtime. We discuss books and enjoy book related quizzes, and take part in book related games and competitions. We take part in the Brilliant Book Award, shadow the Carnegie Medal and enjoy special events for example author visits, Shakespeare's Birthday and Burns Night.

Dyslexia Friendly Reading

Guardian Books for Children and Teenagers

Mrs Mad's Book-a-Rama

A useful and fun site run by a UK primary teacher. Has a number of reviews by Mrs Mad. Children can also submit their own comments on the books featured, and can submit their own name, age and story preferences to get a list of books recommended for them.

Poetry Zone

Attractive site where children can submit their own poems, or reviews of poetry books. Includes interviews with well-known poets, competitions, teacher's zone and links to other children's poetry sites.
